The USS Phineas PF-01 (From Tiberius64's story series)
Spaceships that require an enormous power source (usually cold fusion via matter-antimatter reaction) to send them at speeds faster than that of light (if not at the speed of light) so that they may arrive at other distant planets in a matter of hours, days, or weeks instead of years, decades, or more. Often used in battles over political disputes, internal security affairs, or even planetary conquest. Also used as escorts for other ships carrying people of importance or rescuing refugees/survivors.
